The questionnaire

Our aim with this installation is to allow people that are visiting the city of Enschede to truly experience the spaces and places that make Enschede unique. We know about some of these special locations ourselves however, we believed it would be beneficial to ask our target audience (adventurous people from age 18 to 40) about places that they find interesting. Each person upholds different values and interests, this means that they might think up completely different spaces and places that we did. This helps us to identify any special spots we missed and works to add variety to our offer. Because of this launching, a questionnaire amongst our target audience would be a perfect way to get an idea of what locations our target audience would like to be included in the installation. In order to collect genuine and complete answers, I only asked 3 questions.

“What place or space in Enschede is special to you and why?” This question is straightforward, I hope people will elaborate on why they believe a place is special to them so that we can get a better idea on what makes a place worthy of adding to our installation.

“What category fits your place/space” This question serves to help categorize the spaces and places that are submitted. The categories are as follows: food, culture, sports, nature clubbing, shopping, different…

“Do you have any other remarks, spaces or places to add?” This is an open question so that people have the opportunity to provide extra feedback.

The questionnaire will be distributed over in WhatsApp groups by each team member. These groups consist of Dutch and foreign students that study on both the UT and Saxion and live in or around Enschede. WhatsApp groups allow us to reach many people at once whilst also offering a wide variety of people, the only restriction being that the people we interview should know the city of Enschede fairly well.

Of course, we also realize that the questionnaire does not reach our complete target audience since we don’t many people that are over 25 years that live in Enschede. Our solution to these people is that we will go out into the streets one of these days in order to interview some older people as well to see which spaces and places they know of.
