Today we placed our paper qr codes designed by Cedric on the installation, we needed those so that users would know where to turn the ring in order to select a location. The QR-codes provide some visual feedback to that and we asked Mark and Rene to test the experience to see if it worked properly and if any changes would have to be made to the design.
Befor the test I spent some of my afternoon cutting out the circles with codes on them, this made for a pleasant hour of arts and crafts which was a welcome change from designing audio boards on my laptop.
Mark and Rene approved of the way we implemented the QR-codes which drastically improved the user experience of our installation.
We have chosen for paper codes instead of ones made with the lasercutter, it is a bit more labour intensive but these printed codes fit the design of the installation better. lasercutted codes would also have to be painted over in order to create the needed contrast between the code and the background. We observed other groups struggeling with this and thus decided that paper QR-codes are the best decision for us.
